Many problems to be solved
On December 9, the 18th term People's Council of Quang Binh province opened its 19th session - the regular session at the end of 2024.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Ngoc Quang - Secretary of Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee commended the efforts, important contributions and achievements in 2024 of all levels, sectors, business community, especially the Provincial People's Council, People's Councils at all levels, Provincial People's Council delegates, voters and people in the province.
Mr. Quang pointed out that the issue of expanding the scale and increasing the competitiveness of the provincial economy has been a major limitation for many years, lacking a truly fundamental solution to turn the situation around. The province's budget revenue lacks sustainability. Many industrial production, tourism, real estate projects... are behind schedule, with unresolved problems, causing a huge waste of resources.
Tourism is identified as a key economic sector but has not yet developed commensurate with the province's potential and advantages, and is still heavily seasonal. In addition, many issues arising in the fields of culture, society, health, education, training, social security, etc. have not been promptly resolved.
Create a favorable environment
The Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee said that the above limitations have been frankly acknowledged and pointed out by the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council and Provincial People's Committee to review and evaluate the causes and responsibilities and continue to study solutions to overcome and handle them in the coming time.
It is necessary to be proactive, positive, and creative in organizing the implementation of the province's policies and decisions that have a profound impact on the area, such as eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households throughout the province.
Promote administrative reform, digital transformation, create a favorable and attractive environment to attract tourists; mechanisms and policies must be open, truly creating solid nests to welcome "eagle" investors. Urgently review projects and investors currently deployed in the province to come up with appropriate responses, prevent wasting opportunities, wasting resources, and development resources of the province.
Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Binh province Tran Hai Chau said that the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 7.18%; 24/25 main targets met and exceeded the set plan. The value of industrial and construction production increased by 9.7%; agriculture, forestry and fishery increased by 3.08%; and services increased by 7.23%. All three economic sectors grew higher than the same period last year.
Quang Binh province has welcomed more than 5.2 million domestic and foreign visitors. Quang Binh tourism is increasingly affirming its brand on the domestic and international tourism map.
The province has reorganized and reduced 6 commune-level administrative units according to the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee.
At the 19th session, the Provincial People's Council will listen to and consider 27 reports on the results of work in 2024 and key tasks in 2025 of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council; the results of the implementation of the Provincial People's Council's resolution on socio-economic tasks in 2024 and the socio-economic plan for 2025; information from the Provincial National Assembly Delegation on the results of the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly. At the same time, 31 submissions will be considered to implement the requirements of socio-economic development tasks of the province.
