According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the reception on September 21 (local time), General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the role of USTDA in promoting Vietnam-US economic, trade and investment relations.
The General Secretary and President affirmed that Vietnam values the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the United States; wishing economic, trade, investment, and science and technology cooperation to continue to be an important driving force to bring the relations between the two countries to a substantial, effective and sustainable development.
Appreciating the long-term cooperation process of USTDA with Vietnam in the fields of energy, power grids, aviation, smart cities and digital infrastructure, the General Secretary and President said that these programs contribute to helping Vietnam access technology, management experience and advanced US solutions.
Vietnam is entering a new stage of development, with great demand for strategic infrastructure, energy, transportation, logistics, digital transformation and high technology; these are all areas where the US has strengths and USTDA has experience and appropriate support tools.
Mr. Thomas R. Hardy affirmed that USTDA considers Vietnam an important partner in the Indo-Pacific region and highly appreciates the results of cooperation with Vietnamese agencies and businesses over the years.
Mr. Thomas R. Hardy said that USTDA wishes to continue to accompany Vietnam in preparing and developing high-quality projects, both meeting Vietnam's development priorities and creating opportunities for US technology, equipment, services and businesses to participate more deeply in the Vietnamese market. USTDA is ready to promote tools such as feasibility research, technical support, pilot projects and trade connection programs, project support from preparation to sufficient conditions to attract capital and deploy.
The General Secretary and President requested USTDA to strengthen coordination with ministries, sectors and Vietnamese businesses to select a number of strategic projects with high spillover effects to focus on support, first of all in the fields of energy and power grids, digital infrastructure and data centers, aviation, seaports, logistics and modern transportation; promote the role of "paving the way" from the project preparation stage, helping Vietnam soon access US standards, technology, management experience and resources.
The General Secretary and President also requested USTDA to pay more attention to new fields with high technology content and added value such as artificial intelligence, secure digital infrastructure, smart grids, energy security and solutions to serve green transformation; strengthen the connection of leading US technology, financial and infrastructure enterprises with Vietnamese partners.
Mr. Thomas R. Hardy expressed agreement with the orientations set out by the General Secretary and President; affirmed that USTDA is ready to closely coordinate with Vietnamese agencies to identify suitable projects and mobilize support tools to prepare for projects.
According to Mr. Thomas R. Hardy, Vietnam's large infrastructure development needs and the US's strengths in technology, management, and high-quality solutions will create many new cooperation opportunities; affirming that it will strengthen coordination between USTDA and Vietnamese agencies and businesses, focusing on specific, feasible projects with high spillover effects; promoting the connection of Vietnam's development needs with US technology, resources and businesses, contributing to deepening economic, trade, investment cooperation and creating more substantive content for the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
