General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation depart for work in the US.

On September 20, General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation departed to attend the high-level discussion session of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, bilateral activities in the US and a state visit to Canada at the invitation of Canadian Governor-General Louise Arbour.

The delegation included Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Le Minh Tri; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Deputy Prime Minister, General, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang; General, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang; Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung. Members of the Party Central Committee: Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Hai Ninh; Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan; Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung; Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan; Minister of Agriculture and Environment Trinh Viet Hung; Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan also participated in the delegation.

The working trip demonstrates Vietnam's importance to global multilateral cooperation; affirms Vietnam's strong support and commitment to the central role of the United Nations; and at the same time opens up opportunities for Vietnam and the United States to continue to bring the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to develop more effectively and substantively in all fields, in accordance with the interests of both sides.

The State visit to Canada by General Secretary and President To Lam shows the importance of the two countries to the bilateral Comprehensive Partnership; making an important contribution to bringing Vietnam-Canada relations to a new height.
