National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man signed and issued Resolution No. 1284/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Dong Thap province for the 2023-2025 period.
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly resolved to merge the entire natural area of 0.55 km2 and population of 10,494 people of Ward 2 into Ward 1 (Cao Lanh city).
After the merger, Ward 1 has a natural area of 2.57 km2 and a population of 21,934 people.
Ward 1 borders Ward 3, Ward 4, Hoa Thuan Ward, My Phu Ward, My Tan Commune and My Tra Commune.
Establish My Ngai ward (belonging to Cao Lanh city) on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 6.19 km2, population of 5,394 people of My Ngai commune and the entire natural area of 8.24 km2, population of 13,833 people of Ward 11.
After its establishment, My Ngai ward had a natural area of 14.43 km2 and a population of 19,227 people.
My Ngai Ward borders Hoa An, My Tan, Tan Thuan Tay communes; Cao Lanh district and An Giang province.
This Resolution comes into force from January 1, 2025.
According to Mr. Pham Thien Nghia - Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, the implementation of the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units in Cao Lanh city helps expand development space, concentrate investment resources for development, and improve people's lives.
This leader suggested that it is necessary to create the most favorable conditions for people, agencies, organizations, and businesses to resolve administrative procedures arising from the arrangement of administrative units.
According to Vo Phan Thanh Minh - Chairman of Cao Lanh City People's Committee, the city will urgently focus on perfecting the organization, apparatus and staff in conjunction with implementing Directive No. 35 of the 12th Politburo on party congresses at all levels for the 2025 - 2030 term.
At the same time, continue to lead and improve state management activities in administrative units to reorganize and soon stabilize the operations of relevant agencies and organizations.
