On the afternoon of June 11, the General Staff organized a ceremony to announce the Decision to establish the Unmanned Vehicles Department. General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense attended and delivered directing speeches.
Attending the ceremony were members of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense: General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien.
At the ceremony, the organizing committee announced the Decision of the Minister of National Defense on the establishment of the Department of Unmanned Vehicles under the General Staff.

After handing over the Victory Military Flag to the unit, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, speaking to direct at the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang emphasized: Clearly recognizing the position, role and special importance of unmanned vehicles in modern combat, the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and leaders of the Ministry of National Defense have directed the General Staff to study and develop a project to establish the Unmanned Vehicle Department.
The establishment of the Unmanned Vehicles Department is not only in line with the development trend of world military science, but also contributes to optimizing the overall combat strength of our Army, improving rapid and flexible response capabilities.
General Phan Van Giang requested Party committees, commanders at all levels and officers and soldiers of the Unmanned Vehicles Department to deeply understand the position and importance of modern and high-tech combat units; thereby arousing the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, strong breakthrough, overcoming all initial difficulties to excellently complete political tasks. Do a good job of strategic advising with the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on activities in the field of unmanned vehicles throughout the army.
Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Van Truong, Director of the Department of Unmanned Vehicles affirmed: Officers and soldiers of the unit will always be united and highly promote the spirit of responsibility; quickly consolidate the organization, stabilize forces, maintain discipline and order; focus on training in exploiting and mastering modern equipment; closely coordinate with agencies, units and localities to develop flexible and effective coordination tactics, ready to effectively respond to all high-tech warfare situations.
Prior to that, General Phan Van Giang and delegates offered flowers and incense at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House and the stele commemorating heroic martyrs; visited and displayed weapons and unmanned technical equipment.
