On March 12, the National Election Council held a press conference on the preparation for the election day of National Assembly deputies (NA deputies) of the 16th term and People's Council deputies (HĐND) at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

At the meeting, reporters asked questions and requested to provide more information about 5 self-nominated National Assembly deputies of the 16th term according to the list announced by the National Election Council.

Answering this content, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman - Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Ha Thi Nga said that according to the results of the 3rd consultation, the official list of candidates for the 16th National Assembly has 864 people. Among them, 5 people nominated themselves.

According to Ms. Nga, up to now, self-nominators have fully implemented the procedures according to the provisions of the Election Law, including submitting applications, declaring their background, assets, personal income, participating in collecting opinions and confidence from voters at their place of residence and work.

Also according to this leader, all 5 self-nominated candidates received the trust of voters at their place of residence, and the dossiers were considered and verified in accordance with regulations.

Having people self-nominate for NA deputies once again shows and affirms that citizens' rights have been recognized by the Constitution and law, and at the same time shows the open democracy of the process of election of NA deputies and People's Councils at all levels of our country" - Ms. Ha Thi Nga affirmed.

Vice Chairman - Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Ha Thi Nga also added that in the past time, self-nominated candidates have been given all favorable conditions, ensuring equality like other candidates in participating in voter contact conferences, presenting action programs and campaigning according to the provisions of law.

Ms. Nga added that, according to a quick report from the Fatherland Front Committee in localities with 5 self-nominated candidates, up to this point, these candidates have all completed contacting voters to carry out election campaigns according to regulations.

Voters at the polling stations will consider, evaluate and select the most worthy person through their votes on March 15th election day" - Ms. Ha Thi Nga said.

At the same time, according to Ms. Nga, if these 5 candidates receive the trust of voters at the polling station, they can "completely become National Assembly deputies representing the voice and legitimate aspirations of voters.

In Ho Chi Minh City, there are 2 self-nominates including: Mr. Nguyen Vinh Huy - Notary of Nguyen Thanh Hung Notary Office and Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Huong - Director of Thien Nhien Viet Import-Export Co., Ltd.

In Vinh Long province, there is 1 self-nominated person, Mr. Nguyen Tan Thu - Director of Putin Animal Feed Co., Ltd.

In Can Tho City, there is 1 self-nominated person, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc - Director cum vocational teacher of Thanh Phuc vocational training center.

In An Giang province, there is 1 self-nominated person, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy Director of An Bao One Member Limited Liability Company in Phu Quoc Special Zone.
