On March 12, in Hanoi, the National Election Council held a press conference on the preparation for the election day of National Assembly deputies (NA deputies) of the 16th term and People's Council deputies (HĐND) at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh chaired the press conference.
Information at the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Delegation Affairs Committee, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Election Council Office Ta Thi Yen said that in just 2 days (March 15), voters nationwide will participate in the election of National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
Ms. Ta Thi Yen said that up to now, the preparation for election day has been proactively deployed synchronously and closely by the National Election Council, central and local agencies, basically completed, ensuring according to the legal progress, ready for election day.
Accordingly, the establishment of organizations in charge of elections in localities is seriously implemented, ensuring compliance with the law, correct composition, number of members and completion according to the prescribed time.
The whole country has established 34 provincial-level election committees, 3,320 commune-level election committees; 182 NA Deputy Election Committees; 724 provincial-level People's Council Deputy Election Committees; 22,401 commune-level People's Council Deputy Election Committees and 72,191 election groups.
Regarding personnel preparation, Ms. Ta Thi Yen said that, in general, personnel preparation for participating in the election of National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term has been deployed methodically, closely, in accordance with procedures, authority and ensuring full standards and conditions according to regulations; closely linking the requirements for structure and composition with the quality of deputies.
The implementation process is carried out cautiously, objectively, democratically, clearly showing the political responsibility and serious involvement of all levels and sectors in personnel work" - Ms. Ta Thi Yen emphasized.

Also at the press conference, Ms. Ta Thi Yen said that the work of receiving citizens, receiving and resolving complaints and denunciations related to elections was implemented seriously, in accordance with the law, ensuring objectivity, caution and proper authority.
As of March 10, 2026, the National Election Council has received 50 complaints, denunciations, and reflections (including 27 duplicate complaints).
Immediately after receiving it, the Office of the National Election Council promptly reviewed, classified and transferred it to the Sub-committee on Legal Documents and Complaint and Denunciation Resolution for research, advice, consideration, and settlement in accordance with regulations.
Locally, the Election Commissions of provinces and cities have received 96 complaints, denunciations, petitions, and reflections related to election work, mainly related to personnel candidates for commune-level People's Councils in 20 provinces and cities.
Basic petitions have been considered and handled promptly by competent authorities according to regulations. In general, up to now, the number of petitions related to elections is not large, the main content is reflection and recommendations; complicated, prolonged cases have not arisen or show signs of affecting the preparation and organization of elections" - Ms. Ta Thi Yen informed.
