Over the years, Vietnam has always affirmed its role as an active and responsible member of the international community, complying with international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Vietnam is always proactive in the conservation and sustainable use of seas and marine resources and is ready to contribute to international efforts in this field; has taken many drastic and strong measures to implementSDG 14.

At previous conferences, Vietnam has sent representatives to attend and discuss at key meetings and thematic sessions, thereby contributing to the common efforts of the international community in the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean, sea and marine resources.

This is the first time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has attended the United Nations Ocean Conference, clearly demonstrating the proactiveness and commitment of Vietnam and the international community to solve global issues, in line with the important orientations of our Party and State on sustainable development of the marine economy; promoting cooperation and partnership for a green, peaceful, stable, sustainable and prosperous ocean as the goal of the conference.

Participating in and contributing to UNOC 3 is an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce the achievements in implementing SDG 14, while exchanging international experiences and enhancing cooperation in science, technology, equipment and finance for implementingSDG 14 in the country.
