On the afternoon of July 21, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the construction progress, encouraged the team of cadres, workers, and laborers at the construction site of component project 1 of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway at the intersection between component project 1 and component project 2.
At the construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed to continue to shorten the progress, strive to complete and open the component project 1 of the Cao Lanh - An Huu project on December 19, 2025 and component project 2 on April 30, 2026. At the same time, it is necessary to completely invest in 4 lanes for high-speed vehicles, not just 4 limited lanes as at present.

Regarding capital to serve the work volume due to the project being completed ahead of schedule, the Ministry of Finance will promptly complete procedures to submit to competent authorities for allocation for the project; at the same time, relevant agencies will not let negativity, corruption, or waste.
The Prime Minister also requested localities with stone quarries in the area (such as An Giang) to adjust the scale of exploitation, prioritize sufficient material sources for the project; contractors increase labor, machinery and equipment, work "3 shifts 4 teams" to speed up construction progress...
The Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway Project Phase 1 is 27.43km long, including 2 component projects; total investment of VND 7,496 billion from the state budget; scale of the 4-lane subdivision phase 17m wide, scale of the complete phase of 4 expressway lanes.

Of which, component project 1 is about 16km long, with a capital of VND 3,640 billion, invested by Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, starting in June 2023, planned to be completed in 2026. Component project 2 is over 11km long, with a capital of VND 3,856 billion, invested by the People's Committee of Tien Giang province (old), starting on August 12, 2024, planned to be completed in 2027.
On the same morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also inspected and encouraged the team of cadres, workers and laborers at the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway construction site. At the places where inspection was conducted, along with the requirement to speed up progress, the Prime Minister stated that it is necessary to ensure quality, technology, aesthetics, safety and environmental sanitation for the projects; "if necessary, what is lacking must be reported immediately".
