Reviewing the actual construction site of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that it was planned to open to traffic in June 2026, but now, we have to take advantage of the opportunity to get started, shortening the construction time.
The issue of site clearance, sand and stone materials in An Giang province has been basically resolved, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that now work in "3 shifts", "not enough work during the day, take advantage of working at night", "work through holidays, festivals, Tet, "going over the sun, direct rain" without losing to storms and winds.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that local leaders regularly inspect and urge the acceleration of construction. Along with that, young people, women... had to go out to encourage their brothers and workers at the construction site.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that trying to shorten the time, we must ensure quality and hygiene.
According to the report of the An Giang Provincial Project Management Board, component project 1 has a total approved investment of 13,500 billion VND, a total length of 57 km, including 33 bridges and 42 box culverts. The project is divided into 4 main construction packages. To date, the total construction output has reached 52.87%/52.74% (exceeding the plan by about 0.13%).
To date, the disbursement rate has reached 40.4% (an increase of 15.9% compared to May 2025, equivalent to 549 billion VND).
Regarding the bridge, 33 bridge locations on the route have been installed; 265/282 bridge sections on the route have been constructed, reaching a rate of 94%; about 12 km/19km of bridge railings have been constructed, reaching a rate of 64%. The box culvert is under construction for 30/42 box culverts, reaching a rate of 75%.
For the road section, the volume of sand filled to the construction elevation of CDM and buckwheat is 2.5 million m3/3.0 million m3, reaching a rate of about 83%; construction of CDM piles on the route of 5.2km/5.6km, reaching a rate of behind2%; construction of sand filling on the route of 27km/40, reaching a rate of 63%; construction of sand filling on the route of 27km/30, reaching a rate of 64%; construction of 3,576 components/19.467 components, reaching a rate of 64%.
The report of the An Giang Provincial Project Management Board also clearly stated that up to now, the basic difficulties and obstacles have been resolved; with a high sense of responsibility and determination, An Giang province strives to closely follow the progress road to implement the completion of Component Project 1 before June 30, 2026.
The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Construction Investment Project Phase 1 is 188.2 km long, with a scale of 4 lanes, a total investment of VND 44,691 billion; the progress requires the completion of the entire route in 2026 and the completion of the entire project to be put into synchronous operation in 2027.
