Prime Minister directs to promote private economic development in agriculture and rural areas

The Prime Minister requested to continue promoting cooperation, forming a value chain for sustainable development and developing the private economy in agriculture and rural areas.

On December 10, at the Government headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a dialogue conference with farmers in 2025 with the theme: " application of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation among farmers".

In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister stated that the dialogue affirms the role, position and importance of agriculture, farmers and rural areas to the country's development in any period.

This is also a fulcrum, creating momentum, creating force, creating a position for the development of the agricultural sector, the farming class and rural construction.

Through the exchange of opinions of farmers, the Prime Minister generalized a number of issues arising in supporting farmers in applying science and technology in agricultural production as well as product consumption.

Accordingly, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are objective requirements, strategic choices, top priorities, and are prerequisites for us to complete the agricultural export target of 100 billion USD in the future.

The Prime Minister requested all levels, sectors and localities to focus on implementing a number of key tasks and solutions.

Continue to identify agriculture, farmers and rural areas as having a long-term strategic position, an important foundation to ensure macroeconomic stability and sustainable growth; consider farmers as the center, the subject, the driving force, and the resource.

Identifying the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as the key to removing bottlenecks and bottlenecks in current agriculture and rural areas, as a breakthrough driving force to improve the added value and quality of agricultural products. Build an ordering mechanism between scientists - businesses - cooperatives - farmers.

Regarding recommendations related to capital, credit, and agricultural insurance, the Prime Minister requested relevant ministries, branches, and agencies to study and develop mechanisms and policies on agricultural insurance in a simple, easy-to-reach, and beneficial direction to support farmers, especially in the context of climate change with the increasingly frequent phenomena of extreme floods as at present.

Continue to promote cooperation, form a sustainable development value chain and promote private economic development in agriculture and rural areas. Develop and improve the effectiveness of linkages between economic regions, including the collective economic sector, cooperatives, private economic sectors, and enterprises.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels continues to promote the role and position of socio-political organizations, as the most widely gathered place of the masses, in accordance with the motto that General Secretary To Lam directed: "3 near": Near the people - near the grassroots - near the digital space; "5 must": Must listen - must dialogue - must be an example - must take responsibility - must report the results; "4 no": No form - no avoidance - no push - no wrongdoing.

Continue to effectively implement social security programs, build new rural areas, eliminate hunger and reduce sustainable poverty; develop the socio-economy of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

The Government leaders also requested to focus on taking care of people's lives, especially those in remote areas, the poor, and the disadvantaged.
