The Prime Minister visited people about the damage and encouraged the military, police, youth, and urban environmental workers who are cleaning up after the storm.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also inspected a number of works and facilities severely damaged by storm Yagi.
Previously, at the conference that morning, the Prime Minister directed to provide immediate support of about 100 billion VND to each locality of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong to overcome the consequences of the storm.
Preliminary damage statistics show that Quang Ninh has 3 deaths and 157 injuries due to the storm. 25 cement ships, small wooden ships and over 20 tourist boats sank at their anchorages. Quang Ninh also suffered widespread power and communication outages, which have only been partially restored so far.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the condolences of the General Secretary, President and key leaders to families suffering losses and damages from the storm; commended units, localities and forces that focused on and effectively implemented prevention and control work; and commended the people who followed instructions and supported each other in preventing, fighting and overcoming the consequences of the storm.
Assessing the storm, the Prime Minister emphasized that this is a large storm, with strong and fast intensity, and will maintain super storm status for a long time over a large area. However, the work of forecasting, on-duty, directing, and communicating about the storm has basically met the requirements. In the current target period, it is necessary to focus on search and rescue work, and care for the families of the victims.
The viewpoint is not to let any people lack food, clothing, or shelter; not to let students lack classes or schools; not to let sick people lack places to see a doctor. Therefore, it is necessary to immediately overcome the problem of electricity and telecommunications to serve production and business activities. Immediately use reserve and backup resources according to general regulations from the Central and local levels for urgent purposes, meeting the essential needs of the people.
Authorities at all levels and sectors give priority to overcoming the consequences of the storm, strictly implement state management within their authority, especially in providing guidance, based on new points, and make adjustments; continue to be on duty, overcoming the consequences of the storm, paying attention to the complicated floods and landslides; maintain and strengthen forecasting and communication work, pay attention to supplementing guidance on skills and prevention methods; request the immediate deployment of working groups to directly go to localities to inspect and direct the overcoming work according to the plan quickly and effectively.
