At the meeting, Chairman of the Committee for Culture and Social Affairs Nguyen Dac Vinh said that the high school graduation exam is an important exam, having a great impact on society.
However, with the violations discovered recently, Mr. Vinh assessed it as "very serious".
The Chairman of the Committee for Culture and Social Affairs welcomed the Government's direction, resolutely handling strictly, not accepting "gap", whoever is wrong must be strictly handled.
Regarding this matter, Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh said that the Committee for Culture and Social Affairs has a specific report on the exam situation and assessed related events.
In addition to strictly handling violations and violations, rectifying the management of education or organizing the high school graduation exam, the Chairman of the Committee for Culture and Social Affairs proposed 2 viewpoints that need to be carefully studied to have solutions.
Firstly, organizing the "2-in-1" exam is convenient in saving effort for people and costs for society to reduce burdens, but there are also inadequacies in other aspects.
In the high school exam, there is motivation to achieve higher results to be admitted to universities. This is also one of the reasons leading to negativity in the exam.
Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh said that he is considering whether to study separating the 2 separate exams.
Accordingly, the high school graduation exam aims to re-evaluate the high school learning process, only testing knowledge and classifying students, so that from that score distribution, the quality of training of educational institutions is assessed. As for university admissions, it should be a private matter, a matter of higher education institutions.
Second, is the organization of the exam by multiple-choice method. According to Mr. Vinh, if the high school and university graduation exams only use purely multiple-choice, especially for Mathematics, then it is necessary to re-evaluate.
Speaking afterwards, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang said that the Government is clearly aware of the issues that voters and people are still concerned about. These are all issues directly related to people's lives, requiring drastic, timely direction and specific results.
Regarding issues of particular public concern such as the organization of the 2026 high school graduation exam related to reflecting the results of the Math exam in Tuyen Quang, the Government has drastically directed the Ministry of Education and Training and functional agencies to urgently inspect and verify objectively and comprehensively.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang said that Prime Minister Le Minh Hung is also very concerned about this issue, and has held a meeting with Government leaders to review and direct.
At the same time, the Prime Minister will directly work with the People's Committee and leaders of Tuyen Quang province to continue to have handling measures that are both strict and ensure legal regulations.
