Prime Minister requests Vietnam - Singapore to promote cooperation in anti-fraud

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a phone call with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to continue promoting bilateral relations.

At the phone call on the afternoon of February 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh raised a number of cooperation proposals between the two countries, accordingly, continuing to prioritize expanding and upgrading the network of Vietnam - Singapore industrial parks (VSIP) to the 2nd generation, not only industrial parks, but also combining services, high technology and ecological urban areas; striving to achieve 30 VSIPs in 2026, marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of this successful model in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated that the trade turnover between the two countries in 2025 continued its positive growth momentum, increasing by 12% compared to 2024, and requested Singapore to continue to increase imports of agricultural products; effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on rice trade cooperation, ensuring food security.

The Prime Minister shared with the Prime Minister of Singapore about the decision to build an International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, and at the same time requested the two countries to strengthen cooperation in building and developing an International Financial Center, in the spirit of substantive cooperation, mutual benefit, promoting the strengths of each party, linking and complementing each other, contributing to attracting resources and promoting the common development of the ASEAN region.

The Prime Minister requested Singapore to support the exchange of experiences and advice for the Government of Vietnam; the two countries strengthen cooperation in developing financial - banking infrastructure, especially digital infrastructure, payment systems, cross-border payments, digital identification and network security; promote the connection of the financial ecosystem, encourage banks, investment funds and financial technology enterprises of Singapore to expand investment and long-term operations in Vietnam.

Highly appreciating the two countries' active cooperation in the field of clean energy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the two sides to urgently deploy the survey of the offshore wind power project in Vietnam to export electricity to Singapore, and jointly coordinate to include this project in the Intergovernmental Cooperation Program, in order to create a legal basis and contribute to realizing the ASEAN Power Grid (APG).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also proposed that the two countries promote defense and security cooperation, prevent and combat transnational crime, especially drugs, fraud, financial crime, and cybercrime.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong emphasized Singapore's belief in Vietnam's strong growth potential in the coming time and affirmed its commitment to continue expanding investment in Vietnam, including increasing the number of Vietnam - Singapore industrial parks.

Congratulating Vietnam on the establishment of the International Financial Center, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong affirmed that Singapore continues to be a reliable partner, supporting and assisting Vietnam in developing the International Financial Center effectively.

The Prime Minister of Singapore agreed to actively cooperate on clean energy and said that in addition to trade, other important fields should also be expanded, including defense and security.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong affirmed that Singapore will continue to coordinate to make the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership increasingly practical and effective.
