On the afternoon of January 30, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam had a phone conversation with Secretary General of the People's Action Party (PAP), Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong.
General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure when talking by phone with PAP Secretary General Lawrence Wong immediately after the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam was successfully held.
On behalf of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the General Secretary thanked the PAP Party and Secretary-General Lawrence Wong personally for sending congratulatory messages to the Congress as well as to Vietnamese leaders personally.
PAP Secretary General, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong congratulated the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and congratulated General Secretary To Lam on continuing to be elected as General Secretary by the Central Committee for the 14th term.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expressed his admiration for the achievements that Vietnam has achieved under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and affirmed that Singapore always values and wishes to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the XIV Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam successfully summarized the XIII Congress term with high results, drawing valuable lessons from previous Congresses and summarizing 40 years of Doi Moi.
The General Secretary highly appreciated Vietnam-Singapore relations over the past 50 years, especially since the two countries upgraded relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025.
In the complex international context, the General Secretary requested the two countries to strengthen ASEAN cooperation and focus on consolidating political trust through high-level contacts, implement the Action Program 2025-2030, soon implement the two-party dialogue mechanism; promote economic cooperation and investment in fields such as high technology, renewable energy, VSIP 2.0 development, carbon credit exchange...; promote defense and security cooperation, combat transnational crime, support the construction of the Vietnam National Data Center; expand cultural and tourism exchanges; consolidate ASEAN's central role, closely coordinate in 2027 when Singapore is the ASEAN Chair and Vietnam hosts APEC and promote effective and substantive COC negotiations.
PAP Secretary General, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expressed high agreement with the assessments and proposals of General Secretary To Lam, affirming that Singapore values relations with Vietnam and is ready to implement the agreed cooperation contents; emphasized the desire to strengthen high-level exchanges, economic cooperation, defense - security and other fields, contributing to peace, stability and regional development.
Secretary General, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong also said that Singapore will increase the total number of VSIPs in Vietnam to 30 industrial parks in 2026, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this successful project's presence in Vietnam, and expressed his firm belief that, with the determination and efforts of the leaders and peoples of the two countries, the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop strongly and more substantively in the coming time, for the benefit of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region as well as in the world.
