On the morning of September 25, the plenary session of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF) 2024 officially opened.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai, leaders of ministries, departments, branches, Ho Chi Minh City leaders, domestic and international delegates attended the conference.
Ho Chi Minh City hopes that through this year's Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum, it can identify priorities and focuses in industrial transformation, thereby focusing resources, ensuring consistency in policy mechanisms and implementation. The special point this time is that within the framework of the forum, there will be a Policy Dialogue Session between the Prime Minister and ministries, sectors with businesses and localities to resolve bottlenecks from the practical needs of businesses and localities.
In his opening speech, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that the presence of the Prime Minister, who is both Chairman of the Southeast Regional Council of the Southern Key Economic Zone and Head of the implementation of Resolution 98 on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies of Ho Chi Minh City, is a strong message, demonstrating the determination to act, bringing the country's economic locomotive to overcome obstacles and make a breakthrough in the coming time.
With the role of a dynamic and creative economic, financial, commercial, cultural, educational, scientific and technological center, having contributed much to the overall achievements of the country, Ho Chi Minh City is facing the urgent need to improve the quality and value of life of its people. At the same time, building a civilized, modern and humane city.
Resolution 31 has assigned the task to Ho Chi Minh City to become a modern industrial city by 2030 and a city with a modern industrial development by 2045, on par with economies in the region and reaching the continental level with many large and specific targets.
"To achieve the set strategic tasks and goals, in the current period, along with solutions for sustainable development, Ho Chi Minh City chooses green and comprehensive transformation as the core task, industrial transformation as the driving force, digital transformation as a breakthrough and development cooperation as an important and inevitable task" - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen affirmed.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nen said that through the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum, the city leaders have listened to and received many valuable opinions, experiences and suggestions from domestic and international delegates. And the city has also heard commitments to action. The city government has absorbed and applied them to each medium and short-term development stage, giving effective directions for the economy.

This year's forum recorded 40 local, ministerial and international delegations and experts confirmed to attend HEF 2024 from 16 countries, including: Laos, Cambodia, China, Cuba, USA, Japan, Korea, Russia, India, Germany, Australia, Italy, Portugal, Belarus, Hungary, Uruguay.
