The Phu Phong dam project has an investment capital of 738 billion VND, implemented from the beginning of 2022 and completed in September 2024, 3 months ahead of schedule.

The project was built on the Con River, with a length of more than 589m; on the dam combined with a 10m wide traffic bridge. The reservoir formed from the Phu Phong dam has a water surface area of about 300 hectares, with a total capacity of up to 5 million m3.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Phu Phong Dam is a project of great significance, ensuring irrigation for 465 hectares of agricultural land and the needs for daily life and industrial production; aquaculture; supplementing groundwater sources, improving the ecological environment.
At the same time, enhance the value of historical sites in the area; connect traffic; create momentum for the development of tourism and service sectors; create jobs and livelihoods for people; take advantage of water flowing through dams to the downstream to generate electricity, with a capacity of 2.9 MW; contribute to the development of the local economy in a sustainable direction.
In particular, the project is even more meaningful when it was built near the Tay Son Tam Kiet temple area and completed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Binh Dinh province (March 31, 1975 - March 31, 2025).
On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Binh Dinh province in recent times, including the research and construction of Phu Phong dam.
In the coming time, the Prime Minister requested the province to effectively and sustainably exploit Phu Phong dam and reservoir; maximize the functions of the project; complete settlement, prevent corruption, negativity and waste; continue to pay attention to the lives of affected people, have given up the site for the project and mobilized people to participate in protecting and exploiting the project effectively, bringing benefits to people, businesses and localities.

Along with attending the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister and the working delegation offered incense and flowers at Tay Son Tam Kiet Temple - a special national relic, a place of worship and commemoration of the Chinese lychee hero Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue.
On the same afternoon, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Binh Dinh. At the same time, he visited and presented gifts to near-poor household Ms. Tran Thi Tam (Binh Thanh commune, Tay Son district).

Binh Dinh has 4,363 households needing to repair and rebuild their houses. As of March 21, the province has built and repaired 4,068 households, reaching 93.2%. Of which, 1,532 houses have been put into use.
Through the inspection, the Prime Minister acknowledged and praised the efforts and results of Binh Dinh. The Prime Minister emphasized that in order to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025, together with the support of the State, it is necessary to promote the efforts of each household and the support and assistance of relatives, brothers, neighbors... with the spirit of "whoever has something to contribute", creating a movement and trend for the poor, for the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
