The Ministry of Public Security's information portal said that on March 28, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a letter of commendation to the Economic Security Department and the Investigation Security Department - Ministry of Public Security, praising the achievement of dismantling an organized crime ring that took advantage of cyberspace to create the ONUS virtual currency transaction system to defraud and appropriate assets on a large scale.
In the letter, the Prime Minister was pleased to learn that the Economic Security Department and the Investigation Security Department - Ministry of Public Security have coordinated with professional units of the Ministry of Public Security and the Public Security of some localities to focus forces and drastically implement measures to fight and successfully dismantle organized crime lines, taking advantage of cyberspace to create the ONUS virtual currency transaction system to defraud and appropriate assets on a large scale.
The investigation process determined that the subjects had established 52 companies, defrauded and appropriated tens of thousands of billions of VND from people, arrested and summoned 142 subjects to work, including the mastermind and ringleader, seizing many documents, data, and exhibits of the case.
In the letter of commendation, the Prime Minister emphasized that it was an outstanding feat, showing the spirit of strong attack and suppression of crime, ingenuity, professional sharpness, and the ability to fight and prevent crimes using high technology and taking advantage of cyberspace of the People's Public Security Forces in general, the Economic Security Department and the Investigation Security Department in particular.
The achievement has made an important contribution to protecting the strictness of the law, preventing and limiting damage to money and property for the people; at the same time, deterring and preventing organized crime and high-tech crime.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister congratulated, praised and highly appreciated the above achievements. The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security to have forms of commendation and propose commendation worthy of collectives and individuals who made outstanding achievements in the fight against the above-mentioned special case;
Directing functional forces to propagate and raise vigilance for people to prevent crime; at the same time, promoting the achieved results, continuing to fight and strongly suppress crimes, creating a safe and secure environment to serve the socio-economic development of the country, bringing a peaceful and happy life to the people.
