Prime Minister successfully concludes trip to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit

On the evening of October 28, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Kuala Lumpur for his country, successfully concluding his trip to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit.

On the afternoon of October 28, 2025, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ASEAN countries attended the closing ceremony of the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits and the transfer ceremony of the ASEAN Chairmanship from Malaysia to the Philippines.

After 3 days of urgent work with more than 20 activities, the 47th ASEAN Summit and related conferences have been a great success.

Speaking at the closing session of the Conference, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim thanked all member countries and partners for their substantial contributions and persistent efforts to contribute to the success of the Conference, an event "led by perseverance and reason in a time of change", a typical result of the "ASEAN style".

The important results achieved will give vitality to the regional linkage process, increase the combined strength and position of the ASEAN Community as "inclusive and sustainable" according to the theme of 2025, helping ASEAN to be ready to steadfastly step on the new development journey with 11 members.

The results of the conferences between ASEAN and partner countries also affirmed ASEAN's central position and role and helped continue to strengthen and expand ASEAN's foreign relations for peace, stability and development.

Receiving the role of ASEAN Chair in 2026 from the Prime Minister of Malaysia, President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announces the theme of the Philippines' ASEAN Year 2026 is "Navigating our Future Together" with three major priorities: strengthening peace and security, enhancing prosperity corridors, and promoting empowerment of the people.

The Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh actively participated, contributing effectively to nearly 20 multilateral activities within the framework of the Conference, sharing many important orientations shaping the future of ASEAN.

The substantive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and its partners have also been substantially promoted through more than 20 bilateral contacts.

Vietnam's contributions, proposals and initiatives focus on promoting the building of a united, self-reliant, inclusive and sustainable ASEAN Community, taking people as the center, linking national development with regional development.

Thereby, Vietnam continues to demonstrate its role as a proactive, active and responsible member, making practical contributions to strengthening intra-bloc solidarity, enhancing ASEAN's central role, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
