According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers were assigned to go to localities to assess the damage and recovery measures of storm No. 3 in the localities where the storm passed.

Accordingly, as of 12:00 on September 8, in the city, 2 people died and 18 people were injured due to broken glass and metal roofs.

Many roads and streets have fallen trees, lights, traffic lights, signs, and communication lines flooded, causing serious congestion; traffic activities are stagnant and interrupted.

In most areas, power was cut off to ensure safety or due to power line failures. Many houses, offices, businesses, warehouses, factories, and livestock farms were damaged, with roofs blown off and power poles broken; Many areas of rice, vegetables, fruit trees, and ornamental plants were broken and damaged.

According to Mr. Quan, the damage is very large and cannot be accurately and detailedly assessed or counted.

Preliminary statistics up to 12:00 on September 8, Hai Phong had 528 damaged houses; 128 schools affected; 13 medical facilities; 104 offices, 3 damaged power stations, 210 affected farms, 367 broken electric poles and lighting poles; 3 broadcasting stations, 807 damaged traffic signs; 6,059 broken trees; 16,735 hectares of rice and crops flooded...

Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Anh Quan requested the Government to pay attention and provide financial support to help the city quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters; At the same time, he directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Information and Communications to support the city to soon restore stable power supply and the communication system and telecommunications network in the city.

A representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that by the end of tomorrow afternoon, all customers in Hai Phong will have their power restored.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Hai Phong City to seriously implement the instructions of the Ministers to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3; Continue to implement and review the consequences and damage to people, property, crops, etc.

According to the Prime Minister, Hai Phong’s damage is quite large. The Prime Minister highly appreciated and commended the city for actively implementing the Central Government’s instructions to minimize damage as much as possible. The city needs to review the families who suffered damage, loss, and injured people, and support the people within its capacity.

The city needs to mobilize all forces to clean up and sanitize; fix power, water and signal outages. “For schools that meet the conditions, children should go to school, and damaged areas should be repaired quickly,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

In addition, the Prime Minister also directed Hai Phong to restore production and business, take measures to maintain order and security in the area, and control price increases of goods.

“For old apartment buildings, the city needs to take measures to resolutely relocate people from dangerous areas, creating accommodation for people according to the policy of renting and buying social housing; At the same time, it is necessary to ensure smooth traffic,” said the Prime Minister.

Earlier, the Prime Minister inspected the damage and recovery work after the storm in Quang Ninh province.
