On June 17, within the framework of the ASEAN - Russia 35th Anniversary Summit, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung led a high-level Vietnamese delegation to attend and speak at the opening ceremony of the ASEAN - Russia Business Forum.
In his opening speech at the forum, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung shared some key cooperation orientations in the coming time.
First, the Prime Minister proposed developing sustainable supply chains, increasing trade and investment. ASEAN and Russia need to cooperate in building stable, flexible supply chains with high resilience to external fluctuations.
According to the Prime Minister, the development of transport routes connecting Russia's Far East with Southeast Asia, including seaports and railways, will not only help erase geographical distances, facilitate trade, but also open up many opportunities for cooperation and investment for the business community of both sides.
Along with that, businesses of both sides need to make more effective use of existing economic cooperation frameworks, especially free trade agreements between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and some ASEAN countries. Vietnam is ready to play a bridging role, contributing to promoting trade and investment cooperation between ASEAN and EAEU in general and with the Russian Federation in particular.
The second orientation mentioned by the Prime Minister is to make energy a key pillar of cooperation in ASEAN-Russia relations. Accordingly, energy security is one of the most urgent challenges for sustainable growth and development of countries. The potential for investment and cooperation between ASEAN and Russia is still very large, especially in the development of clean energy, LNG, hydrogen, offshore wind power, and energy-saving technology.
Stating that energy is an important pillar of cooperation between Vietnam and Russia, the Prime Minister stated clearly that Vietnam wishes to develop substantive cooperation projects with Russia and ASEAN countries, especially in clean energy and green technology, contributing to regional energy stability and security.
The third major orientation is to promote cooperation in technology, innovation and digital transformation. This is one of the important directions of cooperation between ASEAN and Russia in the coming period.
The Prime Minister said that Vietnam welcomes and is ready to create conditions for Russian businesses to strengthen cooperation in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), network security, digital education and digital health. At the same time, the Prime Minister requested ASEAN and Russia to promote innovation cooperation programs, support technology businesses and young businesses, and form a dynamic innovation ecosystem, closely connecting the business communities of the two sides.
