The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi on his very successful talks with General Secretary and President To Lam, thereby contributing to strengthening political trust and creating a breakthrough for the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mozambique in the coming time.
President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi emphasized the determination of the State and Government of Mozambique in strengthening and developing cooperative relations in all fields with Vietnam.
Politically, the two sides agreed to continue to increase delegation exchanges at all levels and through channels such as the Party, State, Government, and National Assembly to consolidate political trust and create new momentum for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
The two sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in economic and trade cooperation between the two countries in recent times, with bilateral trade turnover in 2023 reaching an impressive increase of 550 million USD, three times higher than in 2022.
On that basis, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed promoting the exchange of complementary goods such as agricultural products, fertilizers, machinery, garments, footwear... of Vietnam and coal, cashew nuts, wood... of Mozambique.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and asked Mozambique to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Movitel telecommunications joint venture, with the participation of Viettel Group, to operate stably and expand its exploitation effectively, contributing more positively to the economic and social development of Mozambique.
The President of Mozambique highly appreciated Movitel's effective operations, its contribution to Mozambique's digital transformation and its symbol of success in economic cooperation between the two countries.
Expressing his high agreement with the orientations and solutions to promote cooperation proposed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi affirmed that he would direct the Mozambique Government to coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, branches and partners to improve the effectiveness of economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, as well as expand cooperation in other fields such as education, health, digital transformation, processing and manufacturing, etc.
The President of Mozambique emphasized the priority of agricultural and fishery cooperation; expressed his hope that Vietnam would continue to share experiences, research and find suitable partners for new tripartite cooperation projects, support Mozambique in improving its capacity to exploit and process aquatic products and develop aquaculture projects in an effective and sustainable manner.
In the context of the rapidly evolving, complex and unpredictable global and regional situation, the two sides agreed to continue to cooperate closely and support each other at international and regional forums of mutual concern; share a common vision on ensuring security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea ; maintain a peaceful, stable environment, legal order and resolve maritime disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).
