On the afternoon of January 29, at the Ministry of National Defense Headquarters, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien - Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense received Mr. Periasamy Kumaran - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India.
At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that Vietnam always values the friendly, traditional, and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
The visit to India by the Prime Minister of Vietnam (from July 30 - August 1, 2024) with substantial results has contributed to further strengthening the Vietnam - India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that defense cooperation between Vietnam and India is being promoted by both sides, constantly expanding, going deeper and becoming more and more effective and practical such as:
Exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations; Maintaining the effectiveness of consultation - dialogue mechanisms; Cooperation in training; National defense industry; Navy; Hydraulic; Providing preferential credit packages; United Nations peacekeeping.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien wished that in the coming time, Mr. Periasamy Kumaran would support the Ministries of National Defense of the two countries to effectively implement the agreed cooperation contents in order to deploy "deeper defense and security cooperation" as agreed by the two Prime Ministers.
Including contents such as promoting delegation exchanges at all levels; Effectively implementing the Letter of Intention on cooperation in education and training; Strengthening military and military service cooperation; National defense industry.
Thereby, contributing to promoting Vietnam - India cooperation in general, and bilateral defense cooperation in particular to continue to develop, for the benefit of each country, for peace, stability and common prosperity of the region.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien expressed his belief that the visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India will be successful, marking the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam - India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing to further promoting the friendly and traditional good relations between the two countries.
Also at the working session, Indian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Periasamy Kumaran also congratulated the entire Party and people of Vietnam on successfully organizing the 14th Party Congress; and was pleased with the positive cooperation results between Vietnam and India in the fields of defense and security.
Mr. Periasamy Kumaran also expressed his wish that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to closely coordinate and promote the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and India in general, and between the two Ministries of National Defense in particular, to become increasingly developed.
