On the afternoon of December 19, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, chaired the ceremony to hand over the Decision to promote the rank of Senior Lieutenant General to two senior officers of the Ministry of National Defense.
Attending the ceremony were General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Minister of National Defense; General Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA).
At the ceremony, authorized by the President, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Nguyen Hoang Anh announced the President's Decision to promote from Lieutenant General to Senior Lieutenant General for comrades: Do Xuan Tung, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and Do Van Banh, Political Commissar of the National Defense Academy.
Presenting the decision and expressing opinions at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Luong Cuong congratulated the two People's Army officers who had just been decided by the Party and State to be promoted from Lieutenant General to Senior Lieutenant General; affirming that this is the joy, honor and pride of the officers and soldiers of the entire army; at the same time, it is also the joy and honor of the individuals, families and homeland of the two comrades.
In that context, the President requested the two comrades who have just been promoted to military ranks to continue promoting the glorious tradition of the Heroic People's Army; preserve revolutionary moral qualities; unite and be closely attached to cadres, soldiers and people; study, cultivate and practice to always be worthy of the profession of General as beloved Uncle Ho has taught and be a leader, talented commander, exemplary, strive, overcome difficulties and challenges, excellently complete all tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
On behalf of the two comrades who have just been promoted to military rank, Senior Lieutenant General Do Xuan Tung, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, expressed his gratitude for the deep attention of the Party and State, the support of central departments, ministries and branches and the people of the whole country to the Vietnam People's Army, the General Department of Politics and the National Defense Academy and the comrades personally; affirming that this is not only an honor and pride but also a great responsibility that the Party, State, Army and people trust.
