On the morning of August 6, at the Central Committee's headquarters, the top leaders held a meeting to evaluate the results of their work in July and the key tasks for August 2024, under the chairmanship of Comrade General Secretary and President Tô Lâm. This was the first meeting of the top leaders after Comrade Tô Lâm was elected as General Secretary to maintain the working style of the top leaders.
The meeting was attended by Comrade Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, Comrade Chairman of the National Assembly Trần Thanh Mẫn, and Comrade Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Lương Cường. Also in attendance was the member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office Nguyễn Duy Ngọc.
On behalf of the support staff for the top leaders, the member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office Nguyễn Duy Ngọc reported a summary of the work completed in July, the key tasks to be addressed in August 2024, and the time to come.
The conference reached a consensus that in July, the Party Central Committee focused on resolving many important issues related to Party building and organization, economic and social development, national defense and security, foreign affairs, and social policies, particularly measures to assist people in areas affected by natural disasters and earthquakes. In general, the targets and tasks set by the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, the Government, and the National Assembly in July were basically completed.
Notably, after the passing of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Party Central Committee's Secretariat organized a grand, solemn, and compassionate national funeral to allow the people and international friends to express their deepest respect and boundless sorrow for General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.
Immediately after that, the Party Central Committee organized a conference to elect the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam's 13th Central Committee to ensure the continuous leadership, direction, and administration of the country, in accordance with the Party's principle of all-around leadership, effectiveness, and efficiency.
After the top leaders and the Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat discussed the matter, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm concluded several tasks that the entire Party and the entire political system must focus on and address in the time to come.
These tasks include: Focusing on reviewing the remaining work from now until the end of 2024 and proposing solutions and measures to complete it quickly and effectively; continuing the preparation work to ensure the best possible conditions for the 10th Plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee;
The preparatory committees for the 14th Party Congress must carry out their tasks in accordance with the schedule; promptly implement the contents of the summary of 40 years of renovation in Vietnam to serve as a basis for proposing reports to be submitted to the 14th Party Congress.
The central and local agencies should soon complete the leadership positions to prepare well for the Party Congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th Party Congress; strengthen and pay more attention to the activities of the political system at the grassroots level... to ensure that this apparatus operates effectively and efficiently, avoiding causing difficulties and obstacles for the people...
Regarding the task of economic and social development, it is necessary to focus on resolving the difficulties, obstacles, and bottlenecks to create favorable conditions for businesses and entrepreneurs to develop, invest, and conduct business, promote effective production, and create a favorable atmosphere for the people in production, business, and daily life. The conference also discussed and provided opinions and directions for resolving many other important issues of the country in the time to come.
