Immediately after arriving in Manila capital to begin a state visit to the Republic of the Philippines from May 31st to June 1st, on the afternoon of May 31st, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, came to offer flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the ASEAN Flower Garden, located in Intramuros ancient citadel area, Manila capital.
In a solemn atmosphere, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, respectfully offered flowers to commemorate and expressed their deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh - the great leader of the Vietnamese nation, who dedicated his whole life to the cause of fighting for national independence and world peace.
The statue of President Ho Chi Minh at the ASEAN Flower Garden is a work of profound historical, cultural and diplomatic significance, showing the friendship between Vietnam and the Philippines as well as the spirit of solidarity in the ASEAN community.
The project was inaugurated in October 2011, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Philippines (1976 - 2011).
The statue of President Ho Chi Minh is designed in a simple but solemn style. Surrounding the monument is the green space of the ASEAN Flower Garden, a place to honor the solidarity and friendship between Southeast Asian countries.
