In the early morning of May 29 (local time), the special plane carrying General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived at Changi Airport (Singapore) to begin a state visit to Singapore from May 29 - 31 at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his wife.
During his time in Singapore, at the invitation of General Director and CEO of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Bastian Giegerich, General Secretary and President To Lam will attend and deliver a keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue on May 29.
Welcoming General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation at the airport, on the Singaporean side were: Minister of Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo; Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Rajpal Singh; Director of the Southeast Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zhou Suli.
On the Vietnamese side were: Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh and his wife, along with a large number of officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore.
Vietnam and Singapore are two countries with friendly and dynamic, substantive and effective cooperation relations in Southeast Asia.
The State visit to Singapore by General Secretary and President To Lam is of particular importance in continuing to implement and concretize the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework between the two countries.
