On the afternoon of April 25, information from the Da Nang City Party Committee Office, General Secretary and President To Lam had a working session with the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee on the implementation of the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and the Resolution of the 1st City Party Congress.
Speaking to direct at the working session, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Da Nang fully meets the conditions for strong development towards regional linkage. The city not only plays the role of an economic, political, defense, and security center of the Central region but also a vital connecting point on the East-West economic corridor.
Da Nang has a particularly important position and role. With outstanding advantages, the city needs to determine that development must ensure balance, harmony, growth associated with social security, and focus on policies on education and health to improve people's lives," General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized.
General Secretary and President To Lam requested Da Nang to be more drastic in arranging administrative units, organizing government at all levels and effectively implementing the strategic goals set out by the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress.
Da Nang city leaders said that the socio-economic situation in the first months of 2026 achieved many positive results. Specifically, gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first quarter of 2026 is estimated to increase by 8.45%, bringing Da Nang to rank 2nd/6 provinces and cities in the South Central region and 3rd/6 centrally-run cities.
The city's economic scale currently reaches 75. 594 billion VND, an expansion of more than 8,000 billion VND compared to the same period last year. This is an important premise for Da Nang to confidently aim for higher growth in the following quarters.
Immediately after the first quarter results were available, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee directed relevant units to urgently review and update growth scenarios, ensuring the achievement of double-digit growth targets in 2026 and the following years.
The city sets a target that the service sector needs to achieve a growth rate of about 12.1% for the whole year. According to the detailed scenario, the second quarter needs to increase by 13.4%, the third quarter increase by 14% and the fourth quarter maintain at 12.2%.
Regarding Party building work, the Da Nang City Party Committee promptly issued Action Program No. 51-CTr/TU dated March 10, 2026. The key content is to integrate strategic breakthrough tasks and solutions in the spirit of the 14th Party Congress Resolution, ensuring the principle of "clear goals, clear tasks, clear roadmap and clear responsibility of the head".
