On December 4, in Hanoi, the Central Military Commission for the 2020-2025 term held the 15th Conference to evaluate the results of leadership in implementing military and defense tasks in 2025 and the direction and tasks for 2026.
Concluding the conference, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission - affirmed that in 2025, under the leadership and direction of the Party and State, directly the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, the entire army has successfully carried out military and defense tasks and built a clean and strong Party and Army.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that 2026 is a very important year - the first year that the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army will implement the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party with a large amount of work to realize important decisions; organize the election of 16th National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
This is also the first year of implementing the policy of building a modern Army and a modern national defense. The direction of military, defense tasks and building the Army Party Committee in 2026 has concretized the policies decided by the 12th Army Party Congress, in which the theme for 2026 is: "Determination to research and produce advanced and modern weapons and equipment", demonstrating the strong spirit of the Central Military Commission in immediately putting the resolution into life.
The General Secretary requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to lead and direct the good implementation of the Party's ideological work in the Army. The focus is on conducting well the work of political education, building a solid political and spiritual element for the army, ensuring that in any circumstances, the Army is absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the People, ready to fight to firmly protect independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity; taking the lead in preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, disasters, search and rescue, contributing to promoting the cultural value of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era.
Continue to build a "streamlined, compact, and strong" Army
The General Secretary requested to continue building a "streamlined, compact, strong" and modern Army; improve the quality of training, combat readiness; ensure good logistics and techniques for tasks; study, supplement, improve and promote the implementation of the "Ministry of Criteria for building a modern Vietnam People's Army in the new situation", ensure a synchronous mechanism, clear roadmap, solid steps; promote breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; develop a digital ecosystem, database, associated with information security and safety;
Synchronously deploy solutions to improve quality, training, drills, education and training, attach importance to synchronous, in-depth training, in a modern direction; ensure good logistics and techniques for tasks in a modern way; promote increased production, improve the lives, health and living conditions, work and training of the army according to the motto "really, proactively and actively".
The General Secretary pointed out that it is necessary to continue to expand and elevate international integration and defense foreign affairs. In particular, it is necessary to pay special attention to creating a strategic balance in relations with partners, especially major countries; maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development, preventing all risks of war and conflict early and from afar.
To help the entire army firmly enter a new era of national development, General Secretary To Lam suggested acting according to the motto "5 strong" (there is "stable politics - strong discipline - strong technology - strong military art - strong soldier life")
General Secretary To Lam hopes that each officer and soldier will engrave this slogan, turning "5 strong" into daily action, into training criteria, into measuring the results of military construction in the new situation; believes that in 2026, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense will lead and direct the successful implementation of military, defense tasks and Party building work, creating a solid foundation to realize the goals, policies and decisions set by the 12th Army Party Congress.
