On the morning of September 15, in Hanoi, the General Department of Defense Industry (Ministry of National Defense) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025) and received the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces (the second time).
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam stated that over the past 80 years of building, fighting and growing, cadres, soldiers, professional soldiers, civil servants, and defense workers of the former Military sector and the General Department of Defense Industry today have clearly demonstrated their steadfast political will, absolute loyalty to the Party's revolutionary cause, the spirit of overcoming difficulties, self-reliance, self-reliance, diligence, intelligence, creativity, solidarity and close attachment to the people.
"You are the representatives of the leading birds of the fighting army, the working army, and the production labor army. The silent contributions and sacrifices of the comrades have contributed significantly to enhancing the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army (VPA)" - the General Secretary emphasized.
The General Secretary said that in order to fulfill the goals of building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern Vietnam People's Army, the Party and State pay special attention to building and developing the defense industry; all levels and sectors are very interested, creating conditions and devoting many resources to investing in developing the defense industry to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.
In the coming time, the General Secretary requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to focus on leading and directing the General Department of Defense Industry to regularly disseminate and seriously and effectively implement the policies and instructions of the Party, State and Army on developing the Defense Industry, closely combining national defense with economy, economy with national defense; continue to perfect institutions, laws, and organize the defense industry force; improve the quality of strategic consultation; proactively forecast and evaluate the development trends of world military science to promptly research and develop weapons and technical equipment of strategic significance for the Army to carry out the task of protecting the Fatherland in all situations.
Central ministries and branches need to pay special attention, create favorable mechanisms and conditions for the Army to carry out tasks to promote the development of the Defense Industry in the direction of proactiveness, self-reliance, self-reliance, dual-use, modernity, close coordination and becoming the spearhead of the national Industry.
The General Secretary requested to promote the effective application of scientific and technological achievements, innovation and digital transformation in research, design, manufacturing, production, repair and modernization of weapons and technical equipment; focus on implementing key tasks and projects of breakthrough and spearhead to approach and master new technology in the manufacture of weapons and equipment for the military branches, armed forces, and forces moving straight to modernity; prioritize mastering basic technologies, core technologies, developing semiconductor chip industry, advanced materials, special materials for research, design, manufacture, production, and repair of modern and strategically significant weapons, equipment and equipment.
The General Secretary stated the requirement to build political mettle of the cadres and workers of the Defense Industry, absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation; regularly caring for, fostering and training scientific cadres for the Defense Industry; building a team of leading technical cadres and scientists capable of mastering high-tech science and technology to research, design and manufacture modern weapons of strategic significance, with great deterrence against all invaders; combining the task of developing the Defense Industry in the national Industrial development strategy; promoting international cooperation.
