Receiving the Mayor of Busan City, General Secretary To Lam suggested that Busan continue to expand cooperation and support Vietnam in the film industry.

Continuing activities within the framework of the State visit to Korea, on the morning of August 13, General Secretary To Lam visited Busan city and received Mr. Park Heong-joon - Mayor of Busan city.

Mayor Park Heong-joon sincerely thanked General Secretary To Lam and his wife for choosing Busan as a stopover during his first State visit to Korea and attending the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Cooperation between Busan and Ho Chi Minh City.

Mayor Park Heong-joon affirmed that Busan City plays an important role in promoting economic cooperation between Busan City and Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general, including the important contribution of Busan businesses in Vietnam; emphasizing that Busan City wishes to cooperate closely with Ho Chi Minh City to contribute to the completion of the goal of making Busan a global administrative center.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that with its geographical location closest to Vietnam, Busan city maintains good relations with Vietnamese localities; emphasized that this visit to Korea and Busan city of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation took place right on the occasion of Vietnam's launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan city and attending the 30th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan city.

The General Secretary said that at the high-level talks with President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung, the two countries' top leaders achieved a common understanding of support and readiness to create all favorable conditions for local cooperation.

Emphasizing that this is a strategic opportunity for Busan and potential localities of Vietnam to enhance substantial cooperation, General Secretary To Lam suggested that Busan city continue to expand cooperation with Vietnam's provinces/cities; support the business community to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in priority areas such as science and technology, satellite urban development, shopping malls, logistics centers, infrastructure construction, tourism facilities; share experiences in development models, smart seaport operating systems located in one of Vietnam's key coastal economic zones; enhance connectivity and support Vietnam in the petrochemical industry.

Mayor Park Heong-joon pledged that Busan City will continue to closely coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces/cities of Vietnam to strengthen substantive cooperation in areas where both sides have additional strengths, contributing practically to concretizing the high-level agreements between the two countries.

The city government is ready to support and facilitate the operation of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan; at the same time, continue to have policies to protect the legitimate rights of Vietnamese citizens in Busan city, thereby creating conditions for them to make many contributions to the development of the city, as well as effectively promote the role of a bridge of friendship between the two countries.
