During the State visit to Korea, on the morning of August 13, in Busan city, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation attended the launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City - Busan friendly cooperation relationship.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General of Vietnam in Busan Doan Phuong Lan said that the Consulate General of Vietnam in Busan is not only a new diplomatic agency, but also an open door, the beginning of new journeys.
Busan city has a large number of Vietnamese people living and studying. The Vietnamese community here is increasingly integrating with the local community, associated with the development of the city. Therefore, the establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan demonstrates the deep concern of the Party and State of Vietnam for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in the South Korean region.
Busan City Mayor Park Hyeong Jun expressed that in the context of the strong development of the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the establishment of a Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan City has great significance, a vivid demonstration of the increasingly deep connecting relationship between the two countries; a solid bridge to further expand local relations in many fields such as economy, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
Busan City Mayor Park Hyeong Jun believes that the launch of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan will certainly contribute to creating new motivations, expanding the space for friendly cooperation between the two cities.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son presented Mr. Park Soo Kwan, former Consul General of Vietnam, on the occasion of the Busan Commemoration Medal "For the cause of diplomatic career".
Then, General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and leaders of Busan city, representatives of the Korean Government attended the ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the friendship and cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan city (Korea).
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that this is the result of more than 30 years of cooperation between Vietnam and Korea that have been enhanced within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The General Secretary emphasized that Busan has an important position in the bilateral cooperation. Vietnam's opening of the Consulate General here shows its attachment to the position of Busan city in relations with Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and other localities of Vietnam.
According to the General Secretary, Busan has great potential to continue developing relations with Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City is a large urban area of Vietnam, with full potential and a modern development vision. Busan and Ho Chi Minh City are both major economic centers, leading innovation centers of Vietnam and Korea, and both sides have many conditions to continue cooperating for mutual development.
The support and coordination of the Busan government and people for Ho Chi Minh City and other localities of Vietnam will certainly effectively realize the development orientations of cooperation that the leaders of the two countries have just agreed upon.
