On the evening of January 26, General Secretary To Lam had a phone conversation with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel.
First Secretary, President Miguel Diaz-Canel warmly congratulated our Party on successfully organizing the 14th Party Congress, congratulated the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo and General Secretary To Lam personally for being trusted by the Congress to be elected to leadership positions in the new term.
Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel highly appreciated the leadership role, vision and steadfastness of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by General Secretary To Lam and expressed his belief that Vietnam will make steady progress and complete the set goals by 2030 and 2045.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the 14th Congress was a great success, completing a great historical mission.
The Congress summarized the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th Congress, assessed 40 years of Doi Moi and the results of implementing the Platform and Strategy for socio-economic development, set out goals, orientations, and tasks for the next 5 years, and decided on strategic issues for the future and destiny of the Vietnamese nation in the new era of development.
The General Secretary emphasized that on the basis of steadfastly pursuing the goal of national independence and socialism under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Congress identifies the consistent viewpoint of taking the people as the center, as the subject, as the goal, as the driving force and as the resource of development; for the first time adding "theory of the renovation line" as an important ideological pillar along with continuing to uphold Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology; identifying "establishing a new growth model" for Vietnam based on the knowledge economy, digital economy, green economy, circular economy; fully promoting the functions and roles of economic sectors.
The Congress also especially emphasizes strengthening the construction and rectification of the Party and the political system to be clean, comprehensively strong, streamlined, efficient, effective, and efficient.
Regarding foreign affairs, the Congress affirmed that "foreign affairs and international integration" associated with national defense and security is an important and regular task, while consistently implementing the foreign policy line of independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam highly values the special and exemplary friendship with Cuba, and is ready to do everything possible to constantly consolidate traditional solidarity, expand and improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in each region and in the world.
Vietnam is ready to exchange experiences with Cuba in the cause of Renovation and building socialism.
First Secretary, President Miguel Diaz-Canel emphasized that the Party, State and People of Cuba give top priority to relations with Vietnam, determined to tighten and deepen the comprehensive cooperative relationship between the two countries on the basis of inheriting the precious legacy of relations, as well as the solidarity and bond between the people of the two countries laid by President Fidel Castro and President Ho Chi Minh.
General Secretary To Lam and First Secretary, President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed satisfaction with the progress of the two countries' relations in many fields, the results of implementing high-level agreements between the two countries; agreed to direct ministries and branches of the two sides to closely coordinate and effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms, plans, and programs on all channels, levels, and fields, bringing the relationship between the two countries to a substantive and sustainable development.
