General Secretary To Lam holds phone talks with President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen

President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen thanked General Secretary To Lam for his invitation and announced that he would attend the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam National Day.

On the afternoon of August 14, at the request of the Cambodian side, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam had a phone call with President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen to discuss measures to strengthen relations between the two Parties and the two countries.

At the phone call, General Secretary To Lam and President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen informed each other about the situation of each Party and each country; discussed regional and international situations, relations between the two Parties and two countries and some contents of mutual concern; reviewed and evaluated the results of cooperation in recent times and agreed on key directions to further deepen cooperation between the two Parties and two countries in the coming time.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the important results achieved at the Bipartite Summit and the Summit between the three heads of the three Parties of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos in February 2025; agreed to continue to strengthen the relationship between Party and State channels, strengthen political trust, increase exchanges of high-level visits and visits to ministries, branches and localities; promote existing cooperation mechanisms as well as other high-level agreements; continue to share timely information, consult each other on international and regional issues, issues related to bilateral relations, contributing to the development of the relationship between the two Parties and two countries in a new period, serving the practical interests of the people of the two countries.

In a friendly atmosphere, General Secretary To Lam congratulated Cambodia on the socio-economic development achievements it has achieved in recent years, under the wise leadership of the Cambodian People's Party and the Royal Government of Cambodia, contributing to improving the lives of Cambodian people; and welcomed the positive progress that Cambodia and Thailand have made in related to the border issue between the two countries.

President Hun Sen thanked General Secretary To Lam for his invitation and announced that he would attend the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), highly appreciated the profound significance and emphasized that the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam's great national unity, bravery, and resilience in the resistance war against foreign invaders and national independence; expressed his admiration for the achievements in Vietnam's economic, social and foreign development under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam.

President Hun Sen also expressed his confidence that Vietnam will steadily develop, enter a new era for the nation, and achieve the two 100-year goals set.

Regarding the international and regional situation, the two leaders exchanged and shared views on issues of mutual concern. General Secretary To Lam emphasized that dispute issues need to be resolved by peaceful means, in accordance with international law and practice; promoting ASEAN's central role, for peace, stability, cooperation and prosperity in the region and the world.
