On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister of South Korea Kim Min Seok attended the Vietnam - South Korea Economic Forum with the theme "Cooperation in developing the production chain in the new era" and witnessed the handover ceremony of cooperation agreements between ministries, branches and localities (Vietnam) with South Korean partners.
During the visit, the General Secretary delivered a policy speech at Yonsei University with the theme: " Enhancing connectivity and trust, promoting the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, for peace, prosperity, cooperation and development".
On this occasion, Professor Yoon Dong Sup, President of Yonsei University, presented the honorary doctorate to General Secretary To Lam.
During the State visit to South Korea, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the port city of Busan, the second largest economic center in the Southeast of South Korea.
Here, the General Secretary attended the launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan and the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City - Busan Friendship Cooperation; visited Busan Port and listened to an introduction to 100% automated port operation technology.
At the meetings, leaders of the two countries highly appreciated the remarkable development of bilateral relations since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992 and especially after upgrading their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022; affirmed that the two countries are mutually top important partners in all fields.
The two sides agreed that the achievements over the past 30 years are a solid foundation and a long-term driving force to strengthen and bring the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into depth, substantially, effectively and to a new stage.
The leaders of Vietnam and South Korea issued a Joint Statement outlining key areas of cooperation between the two sides to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
In the context that Vietnam is in the process of building and implementing major development orientations of the country, the State visit of General Secretary To Lam this time further demonstrates the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, active, comprehensive, extensive, effective international integration and is also an important foreign activity to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.
