VNA reported that on the afternoon of February 18, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Tran Cuong, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China, Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Congress of the People's Representatives of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, on the occasion of a visit to Vietnam and attending the 2025 Spring Meeting Program between Provincial Party Committee Secretaries/Zhuang Party Committees of the localities of Guangxi, Lang Son, Cao Bang, and Ha Giang of Vietnam and Guangxi, China.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam consistently considers developing relations with China as an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification.
The General Secretary believes that under the strategic orientations and directions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping as the core, the Party Committee, government and people of the Guangxi Autonomous Region under the leadership of Secretary Tran Cuong will continue to achieve even greater achievements, building Guangxi to become increasingly rich, developing, and people's lives will become increasingly prosperous and happy.
Emphasizing that Guangxi is a locality deeply attached to Vietnam, the General Secretary highly appreciated the pioneering role and position of Guangxi in promoting friendly relations and practical cooperation with Vietnam, welcomed Guangxi and Vietnamese localities to effectively implement the Spring Meeting Program between Provincial Party/Rural Party Secretaries, and approved the creative idea of the two sides in inviting Hai Phong city to participate in this annual meeting mechanism.
Regarding cooperation in the coming time, the General Secretary suggested that the West and Vietnamese localities closely follow high-level common perceptions, enhance friendly exchanges and mutual understanding; effectively implement mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, especially in economy - trade, infrastructure, science and technology, innovation, artificial intelligence (AI) ... speed up the pilot construction of a smart border gate model to facilitate the customs clearance of goods, especially agricultural products of Vietnam to the Chinese market, and cooperate in good border management on land.
Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Party Committee Tran Cuong expressed his honor to meet and listen to General Secretary To Lam's important opinions on Vietnam-China relations as well as exchanges and cooperation between Guangxi and localities of Vietnam.
Emphasizing that Vietnam is a close and intimate neighbor, a leading important partner of Guangxi, Secretary Tran Cuong affirmed that the Party Committee, the government of the Guangxi Autonomous Region and individuals especially attach importance to the friendship and cooperation with Vietnamese localities; will continue to take the lead in thoroughly grasping and comprehensively and effectively implementing the common perception of the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries on further deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Community of Shared Future Vietnam - China of strategic significance.
Secretary Tran Cuong respectfully thanked and accepted the guiding opinions of General Secretary To Lam, and hoped that the two sides would further promote some key areas of cooperation such as enhancing delegation exchanges at all levels, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, especially economy - trade, investment, education and training, science and technology, including developing the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, big data, accelerating the construction of a smart border gate pilot, promoting road and railway connectivity, facilitating trade and travel between China and Vietnam as well as ASEAN countries, promoting people-to-people exchanges, enhancing friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Quang Tay and Vietnamese localities.
