On October 25, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on the occasion of attending the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention) in Hanoi.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith directly and the Lao delegation attending the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime; firmly believing that the participation of General Secretary and President of Laos will contribute significantly to the overall success of the event.
The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam always strongly and comprehensively supports Laos' innovation; is ready to share experiences and gives the highest priority to support Laos in successfully organizing important events of the country.
The General Secretary and President of Laos congratulated Vietnam for proactively and actively participating in negotiations from the beginning and posting who organized the signing ceremony, clearly demonstrating the Party and State's policy on attaching importance to the work of preventing and combating cybercrime. The Convention will be an important legal basis for ensuring cyber security and creating favorable conditions for Vietnam and Laos and their sustainable development partners.
General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated the cooperation between the two countries for continued substantial and comprehensive development. In addition to strengthening political, defense and security cooperation, the two sides agreed to continue to strongly promote and create breakthroughs in economic cooperation to match the level of good political relations; agreed to promote bilateral trade growth, expand infrastructure connections, effectively implement strategic cooperation projects, thereby creating new momentum for a period of effective and long-term sustainable cooperation, for the common interests of the two countries.
The two leaders discussed specific cooperation contents to continue to pay attention to directing the appropriate resolution of bottlenecks in implementation; mentioning practical measures to facilitate Vietnamese enterprises to invest and cooperate, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Laos.
The two leaders agreed that in the context of rapidly changing and turbulent international affairs, the two countries need to strengthen solidarity, solidarity, strengthen consultation, proactively coordinate closely, and support each other in multilateral, regional, and ASEAN forums; jointly support each other to successfully achieve the goals of each Party and country, especially the successful organization of the National Congress and election of the National Assembly for the new term of each Party and country.
