On the afternoon of October 24, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on the occasion of attending the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention) in Hanoi.
Sharing about this important foreign event, the Prime Minister said that the Opening Ceremony of the Hanoi Convention signing is an important international event and Vietnam is honored to host it. The Convention will create a new legal corridor and framework, helping member countries around the world join hands to fight against all types of cybercrime, contributing to ensuring global cyberspace security and safety;
Emphasizing that the General Secretary and President of Laos directly attended the Hanoi Convention Opening Ceremony with the high-ranking delegation of Laos, he contributed significantly to the overall success of the event.
Discussing bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure at seeing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos continue to develop well in recent times.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam is always a one-of-a- kind, always giving the highest priority to the special "one-of-a- kind" relationship with Laos, strongly and comprehensively supporting the work of protecting, building, innovating and developing Laos.
General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his pleasure at attending the opening ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime. Assessing this as an event of historical significance, marking the first time the international community has achieved a global legal framework to deal with crimes using information technology and cyberspace. In particular, I congratulate Vietnam for hosting this important event, called the Hanoi Convention associated with a global multilateral treaty in a field that the international community is particularly interested in, which will contribute to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam and contribute significantly to enhancing the role and position of Vietnam in the international and regional arena.
The General Secretary and President of Laos agreed with the assessments and shares of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the good results achieved in bilateral cooperation in recent times, with many bright spots, including many important projects completed and will be completed in 2025 as planned; sincerely thanked Vietnam for its sincere and wholehearted help and support to Laos in recent years.
The two leaders agreed on the two sides strengthening and closely coordinating the effective and timely implementation of key projects between the two countries, organizing important foreign affairs activities well and practically celebrating important holidays of the two parties and two countries in the coming time.
