Master modern weapons and technical equipment and quickly adapt to new combat conditions
On March 22, in Hanoi, the Party Committee of the Engineering Corps Command (Ministry of National Defense) held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Engineering Corps (March 25, 1946 - March 25, 2026) and receive the Ho Chi Minh Order.
General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission attended and spoke at the ceremony. State President Luong Cuong; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; Member of the Politburo, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu sent wreaths of congratulations. Attending the ceremony were members of the Politburo, members of the Secretariat, members of the Party Central Committee, and leaders of ministries and sectors.

At the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission - awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order to the Engineering Corps, a noble award, showing the recognition of the Party and State for the long tradition, great and particularly outstanding contributions of the Corps in the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
The General Secretary noted that we are living in a world that moves very quickly, very complicatedly, creating many difficulties and challenges. That context poses new, very high, and very comprehensive requirements for the cause of building the Army, consolidating national defense, and protecting the Fatherland.
To successfully complete the mission of "win against any enemy", the General Secretary requested the Engineering Corps to be absolutely loyal, absolutely compliant, absolutely ready to fight; maintain political bravery, raise strategic awareness, and not be passive or surprised in any situation.
The Corps must continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's military and defense viewpoints and guidelines; firmly grasp new thinking on national defense and defense of the Fatherland; thoroughly grasp Resolution No. 8 of the 13th Central Committee, Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, Resolution of the 12th Party Congress of the Army and strategic guidelines of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.

The General Secretary requested to build a streamlined, compact, strong, and modern Engineering force; it is necessary to focus on building a contingent of cadres and soldiers of the Engineering force with bravery, knowledge, skills, regular working style, iron discipline, the ability to master modern weapons and technical equipment and quickly adapt to new combat conditions.
Training must be basic, practical, and solid. Each officer and soldier of the Engineer force must truly be a soldier with iron will, proficient operations, accurate reactions, decisive actions, strictly complying with orders and discipline.
Continuing to promote the tradition of "Opening the Way to Victory
The General Secretary emphasized to continue to promote the tradition of "Opening the way for victory", taking the lead in building national defense projects, clearing bombs and mines, disaster prevention and control, rescue and relief, and unexpected and special tasks.
The Corps must further improve its management capacity, build combat works and defense works in a modern, high-quality, and high-combat strength direction; must proactively advise and organize well the task of ensuring engineering soldiers in combat modes; must continue to promote the capacity to clear bombs and mines, clean up land, and restore a safe environment to people, serving socio-economic development; strive to basically complete the task of overcoming the consequences of bombs and mines after the war by 2045 or sooner.
In natural disasters, catastrophes, incidents, rescue, and relief, Engineers must continue to be the force that goes first, arrives earliest, sticks the most persistently, and acts the bravest. Engineers are not only the fighting force of the Army; they are also the force of the people's hearts, for the people, trusted by the people, respected by the people, and entrusted with faith by the people in difficult times.
The General Secretary clearly stated that it is necessary to create a strong breakthrough in science and technology, innovation, digital transformation; quickly master new techniques and technologies; must link scientific research with practical tasks; expand cooperation in training, scientific research, technology transfer, suitable to Vietnamese conditions, meeting combat requirements and ensuring combat in the new situation.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that over the past 80 years, the Engineering Corps has written a heroic epic with sweat, intelligence, blood and bones, loyalty and the resilient fighting spirit of many generations of officers and soldiers.
That tradition is a source of pride, a priceless asset, an order urging each officer and soldier today to live, study, train and fight even more worthily.
