Performing well the function of "the brain agency of the Army"
On the morning of September 6, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day (September 7, 1945 - September 7, 2025) and received the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission - emphasized that the establishment of the Vietnam People's Army Trade Center on September 7, 1945 was a historic event marking the official growth of the Vietnam Revolutionary Army.
Immediately after its establishment, the BTTM has directed the immediate implementation of important and urgent tasks, such as: Organizing the Southern Army to provide urgent support to the Southern and South Central battlefields; fighting to protect revolutionary rule; defeating the "fast defeat, quick victory" strategy of the French colonialists; building and developing the people's armed forces and preparing in all aspects for the long-term resistance war of our army and people.
General Secretary To Lam reviewed the achievements, glorious feats and maturity of the BTTM in the resistance wars against French colonialism, the resistance wars against the US and in the period of building and defending the Fatherland.
In the period of innovation, promoting a positive, proactive and creative spirit, continuing to perform well the function of "the brain agency of the Army", the BTTM has promptly proposed to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to advise the Party and the State on policies and countermeasures to successfully handle military and defense situations and tasks, not to be passive or surprised; advise on research and development of important military and defense strategies, projects and laws.
"Coordinating water must go hand in hand with protecting water"
Emphasizing the precious historical lesson and tradition of our ancestors of "rule the country must go hand in hand with national defense", the General Secretary said that in the context of the international and regional situation continuing to have complicated and unpredictable developments; hostile forces increasingly opposing the Party, the State and the revolutionary cause of our people; the task of protecting the Fatherland is posing many major problems.
To successfully fulfill the functions and tasks of strategic consultation, command, and direction of the People's Army and militia to carry out military and defense activities and tasks in the new situation, General Secretary To Lam requested the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to continue to thoroughly grasp Ho Chi Minh's military ideology, the Party's military and defense guidelines, especially the Fatherland Protection Strategy in the new situation.
Inheriting and promoting the quintessence of national military art, selectively absorbing and creatively applying advanced military science and technology in the world, bringing Vietnam's military science and art to new heights.
Focus on building and improving comprehensive, proactive and activeness in research, early forecasting the situation, promptly advising and proposing on strategic and strategic planning; effectively resolving international relations, proactively preventing the risk of war and conflict.
Continue to improve the effectiveness of combining economy with national defense, national defense with economy, promote the construction of a national defense, a national defense posture associated with national security, a national security posture and a solid "people's heart posture". Build a solid defense of military zones and defense areas at all levels, in line with the two-level local government model.

The General Secretary also emphasized the need to adjust the strategic arrangement, plan, and combat plan, in accordance with reality, to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
