On August 4, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - chaired a working session between the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and 30 communes, wards, and special zones (old Ba Ria - Vung Tau area) on the situation of activities after the reorganization of the apparatus; socio-economic development; receiving and handling recommendations from localities.
At the meeting, representatives of wards, communes and special zones made many recommendations and proposals. Some opinions have been answered by departments and branches, the remaining opinions are recorded for further resolution in the coming time.
Concluding the working session, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc highly appreciated the responsible working spirit of cadres in wards, communes and special zones. Thereby, the city leaders also reviewed a number of key issues for implementation, not only in the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau area but also in the entire Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, a very important issue is to unify views, thinking and be transparent from leaders to party members and workers.
"There is a saying that if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together. When the collective is unified and contributes to the construction, it will open up new space, solving major problems for stronger and further development," said Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc also made some suggestions to effectively operate the two-level local government model, including: considering people and businesses as the center; strengthening propaganda and guidance in an easy-to-understand and easy-to-remember way so that people can grasp and avoid running back and forth when completing procedures; preventing negativity and waste, strictly managing real estate and public assets; assigning the task to directors of departments to organize regular professional guidance for staff under the management team...
Regarding economic development, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized the strategic orientation, which is to build a "one-space - three-region" model. In particular, the old Ho Chi Minh City will be an international financial center, a locomotive in science and technology, playing the role of a core city, focusing on high-quality services and innovative and creative resources.
The old Ba Ria - Vung Tau area with advantages in marine economy will be shaped to develop clean energy, tourism - entertainment services associated with the sea. At the same time, form free trade zones directly connected to the strategic seaport system. In addition, the old Binh Duong area continues to be a high-tech industrial center, attracting investment in advanced, automated manufacturing industries.
The Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City also assigned the Department of Finance, the Management Board of Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks to coordinate in reviewing zoning plans and investment projects preparing for the development period of 2026-2030.
"In particular, it is necessary to focus on removing difficulties for large industrial projects and continuing to call for projects to develop renewable energy. Projects and planning that are being implemented well and have clear results should be urged, supported, and promoted strongly. As for projects and planning that are ineffective and not suitable, they should be boldly eliminated to restructure and attract new, suitable investment," Mr. Duoc emphasized.
