On the evening of May 19, in Hanoi, the People's Army Newspaper coordinated with the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank to organize the summary and award ceremony of the National Writers' Contest on the topic "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation" for the 5th time (2025-2026) and launched the 6th Writers' Contest (2026-2027).
Attending the summary and award ceremony were: General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense; Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Trinh Van Quyet; General Nguyen Trong Nghia - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Minh Huan, Member of the Politburo, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the VPA, Deputy Minister of National Defense.



The 5th contest received 651 entries from 72 press agencies, an increase of 110 entries and 21 press agencies compared to the 4th contest. If the first contest had 30 press agencies responding to the contest, then by the 5th contest, there were 72 press agencies submitting entries, a 2.4-fold increase.
The entries have closely followed the theme and rules of the Contest, comprehensively and richly addressing the contents of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the new situation in the spirit of Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW dated October 22, 2018 of the 12th Politburo.
After 5 times of organization, the contest has continuously expanded in scale, enhanced its stature and become a professional, prestigious "playground" with increasing attraction, spread and influence in the country's journalistic life. The number of works and press agencies participating in the contest each year has increased higher than the previous year.
In the past 5 years, more than 2,800 works from 243 press agencies nationwide have submitted works to participate in the Contest. Of which, about 45% are works by experts, scientists, and generals. The Contest contributes to connecting, mobilizing, and multiplying the strength of press agencies nationwide in propaganda, struggle, and protection of the ideological foundation of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
At the event, the Organizing Committee awarded 31 excellent works including: Prizes for central newspapers; prizes for local newspapers; prizes for magazines, including: 3 A prizes, 6 B prizes, 9 C prizes and 13 consolation prizes.
With many quality works participating in the 5th contest, the group of authors of Lao Dong Newspaper was awarded the B prize of the contest. On this occasion, Lao Dong Newspaper was awarded a certificate of merit by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army for making many positive contributions to the contest in the past 5 years.
