Striving for double-digit GRDP growth rate in 2025
On January 16, in Nam Dinh, General Secretary To Lam and the Central Working Delegation visited and worked with the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee on the results of implementing tasks in 2024, and key directions and tasks in 2025, according to VNA.
Accompanying the General Secretary were Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; General Luong Tam Quang - Minister of Public Security.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Politburo and the Secretariat, General Secretary To Lam commended the efforts and achievements of cadres, party members and people of Nam Dinh province over the past year.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the province needs to continue to enhance the Party's leadership role; continue to innovate the Party's leadership method for the political system, ensuring effectiveness, practicality, and closeness to reality, meeting the requirements of the Party's comprehensive leadership in the new period.
Resolutely implement plans and projects to reorganize the political system to be streamlined, strong, efficient, effective and efficient in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee (12th tenure); create high unity in awareness and solidarity in action of the entire Party, people and the entire political system in the province, ensuring the set roadmap and progress.
The province needs to focus on leading and directing the effective implementation of Directive No. 35 of the Politburo on organizing party congresses at all levels, especially the 21st Provincial Party Congress towards the 14th National Party Congress.
General Secretary To Lam requested to resolutely, synchronously and effectively implement solutions for socio-economic development; strive for a double-digit growth rate of the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2025; complete and exceed the targets set out in the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term; focus on exploiting, mobilizing and effectively using all resources to invest in building economic and social infrastructure.
The province needs to continue to strive to complete and put into use a number of key projects and works of the province, contributing to removing "bottlenecks" in traffic infrastructure, opening up new development space to increase investment attraction, creating momentum for socio-economic development.
Regarding the recommendations and proposals of Nam Dinh province, the General Secretary requested the Government, ministries, branches and relevant agencies to immediately remove obstacles; study and supplement the planning to include a number of power projects in the National Power Development Plan, Power Plan VIII; and plan a group of seaports to create momentum for Nam Dinh in particular and the Red River Delta region to develop further.
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha presented Decision No. 88/QD-TTg dated January 14, 2025 of the Prime Minister on the establishment of Ninh Co Economic Zone to the leaders of Nam Dinh province. Ninh Co Economic Zone has an area of 13,950 hectares, located in the southernmost part of Nam Dinh province.
The first province in the country to complete the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels.
Previously, reporting at the working session, Mr. Dang Khanh Toan - Secretary of Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee - said that the province's socio-economic development in 2024 continued to develop, achieving comprehensive results in all fields. The total GRDP is estimated to increase by 10.01% (ranking 9th in the country and 4th in the Red River Delta, the second consecutive year with a double-digit growth rate).
State budget revenue in the area reached 14,828 billion VND, an increase of 42% compared to 2023 (exceeding the target set by the Provincial Party Congress Resolution of 10,000 billion VND).
The province has completed the summary of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, and at the same time developed plans and projects to arrange and streamline the organizational apparatus in the province in accordance with the direction of the Central Government.
Nam Dinh is the first province in the country to complete the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period with a large number of arranged units (reducing 1 district and 51 commune-level administrative units).
