General Secretary To Lam attended and chaired the meeting. Also present were General Luong Tam Quang - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security and Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Central Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc.

Regarding the socio-economic situation of the past year, the General Secretary said that our country has just passed through 2024 with many important events and milestones. In the context of the world, regional and domestic situation, besides advantages, there are also many difficulties and challenges that far exceed forecasts. However, thanks to the united efforts of the entire Party, the entire army and the entire political system, we have achieved many outstanding achievements.
For the first time, 15/15 main socio-economic development targets for 2024 have been achieved and exceeded the plan; The economic scale reached nearly 500 billion USD, besides that, we also focused on hunger eradication and poverty reduction, there were also many changes in the fields of health and education...
In particular, national defense and security are maintained, the people's hearts and minds are consolidated and strengthened, arousing people's strength and aspirations for the development of a prosperous country, and the people's high consensus and support for the Party's strategic policies.
The General Secretary said that this year is of special importance, the final year of the term to strive, accelerate, and soon reach the finish line to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress; the year to hold Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party; practically celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Party's founding, the 80th anniversary of National Day, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security and many other important political events.
According to General Secretary To Lam, to achieve the set goals, it is important to continue to maintain the Party's leadership role, focusing on successfully organizing Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress.
The General Secretary emphasized the need to continue building a truly strong political system, capable of leading the country's development, protecting the country, protecting the nation's longevity, and protecting territorial integrity. This is the key task we will carry out in 2025 and the following years.
General Secretary To Lam also mentioned the focus on socio-economic development and enhancing the country's potential. Without double-digit growth, it is impossible to achieve the goals of 2030 and 2045.
"So, sectors, fields, and localities must review the development goals of their fields to develop sustainably together with the country," said the General Secretary.
