The visit of General Secretary To Lam has contributed to bringing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and North Korea to a new stage.

Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu answered an interview about the outstanding results of the state visit to North Korea and attended the 80th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean Labor Party by General Secretary To Lam from October 9-11, emphasizing that the visit was a great success.

The Deputy Minister pointed out that the state visit of General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to North Korea and attending the 80th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK is an important foreign policy event for both Parties and two countries, especially in the context that both sides are actively implementing the Resolution of each country's Party Congress, towards preparing for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 9th National Congress of the DPRK.

This year is also the year that Vietnam and North Korea practically celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as well as the Vietnam - North Korea Friendship Year 2025.

"The Vietnamese delegation received a very warm, sincere and thoughtful reception with many exceptions, demonstrating the special respect of the leaders of the Party, State and people of the North for the high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary To Lam personally" - Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu said that this visit has three main results:

First of all, the visit has contributed to creating new momentum and heating up the traditional friendship between Vietnam and North Korea. The two leaders spent a lot of time reviewing the long history of the relationship between Vietnam and North Korea, which was personally founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Nhat Thanh, and expressed their appreciation and gratitude for mutual support and assistance in previous periods.

Secondly, through frank, sincere and substantive exchanges between the two leaders and the signing of a number of cooperation agreements, the visit has contributed to bringing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and North Korea to a new stage.

Accordingly, the two leaders agreed on major cooperation directions to promote cooperation between the two countries for development in accordance with each other's strengths and aspirations, thereby developing the relationship sustainably and long-term.

The two sides agreed to promote cooperation in specific areas of cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, tourism, culture, education, information and communication, healthcare, etc., in accordance with each other's conditions as well as relevant international regulations.

Third, the two leaders spent a lot of time sharing their views and positions on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

At the talks, General Secretary To Lam shared Vietnam's consistent viewpoint and stance of contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, including the issue on the Korean Peninsula and the East Sea.

"With those results, this visit is a step of development, concretizing the consistent foreign policy of the Party and State, which is independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, development, attaching importance to relations with traditional friends, demonstrating the spirit of Vietnam as a responsible member, a country on the path of innovation and success in the international community" - Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu shared.
