On April 10, in Phnom Penh capital, after a solemn official welcoming ceremony, Politburo Member, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu and Vice Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party, Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Samdech Say Chhum held talks.
The two sides were pleased to see that cooperation between the two Parties and two countries in the past time has had strong development steps, increasingly going deeper, more effective and substantive in all fields of politics, security - defense, economy - trade, education - training, people-to-people exchanges, and local cooperation.
The two sides agreed to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the positive results achieved in the high-level visits and contacts between the two countries recently, especially the state visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam and the results of the meeting of the Standing Committees of the two Parties in February 2026.
The two sides agreed to regularly maintain high-level meetings and exchanges between leaders of the two Parties, the two countries, between Party Committees and agencies of the two countries; strengthen information sharing, exchange of situations, and timely consultations on emerging issues of mutual concern, thereby continuing to firmly consolidate political trust and mutual understanding.
The two leaders emphasized that defense and security cooperation is one of the important pillars of bilateral relations; agreed to strengthen cooperation, well implement agreements, resolutely not to let any force take advantage of this country's territory to oppose that country, strengthen cooperation in crime prevention and combat, including transnational crime, drug crime, high-tech crime, contributing to maintaining security and stability to serve the development of each country and the entire region.
The two sides emphasized the need to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, create favorable conditions for businesses and people to cooperate economically, connect strategic infrastructure, especially connecting transportation, logistics, border gates, border trade, creating favorable conditions for the circulation of goods, services and investment between the two economies; improve the efficiency of coordination in the fields of agriculture, processing industry, energy, telecommunications, digital transformation, human resource training and new potential cooperation fields.
The two sides agreed to closely coordinate and soon resolve the border sections that have not been completed for border demarcation and marker planting in the spirit of the high-level meeting between the two Parties in February to jointly build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
The Standing Committee of the Secretariat requested Cambodia to continue to pay attention to satisfactory resolution of issues related to Vietnamese people of Vietnamese origin and citizens of the two countries in the spirit of friendship, respect for the law and legitimate interests of each other.
The two sides affirmed that it is necessary to further strengthen coordination in propaganda and education of the traditional relationship between the two Parties and two countries; proactively fight against false arguments, historical distortions, and inciting extreme nationalism, causing division in the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship and solidarity.
On this occasion, the two sides witnessed the handing over of the Memorandum of Understanding for the period 2026-2030 signed between Gia Lai province and Ratanakiri, Strung Treng and Preah Vihear provinces.
