The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on the afternoon of August 7, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Ms. Obuchi Yuko, Member of the House of Representatives of the Japanese National Assembly, President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Alliance on the occasion of Ms. Obuchi and the delegation of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Alliance to visit Vietnam.
Emphasizing that exchanges and ties between the two countries have a history of more than 1,300 years, General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy and satisfaction at seeing that after nearly 2 years of upgrading relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the Vietnam - Japan relationship is at a good, substantive and comprehensive stage of development in all fields.
President Obuchi affirmed that he will inherit the tradition and continue to be the next generation of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Alliance, contributing to the Vietnam-Japan relationship.
Ms. Obuchi expressed her deep impression of the rapid economic development as well as the vitality of the country and people of Vietnam through her visits to Vietnam; believing that with a young population, the highest economic growth rate in Southeast Asia and high education levels, Vietnam will develop further in the coming time.
Chairman Obuchi affirmed that Japan supports Vietnam's innovation and wishes to accompany Vietnam in implementing development goals in the new era.
Ms. Obuchi also emphasized the importance of further strengthening the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan in many fields, not only in politics, economics, trade, investment, but also in national defense, security, and people-to-people exchanges, especially in the context of the new world situation; affirmed that he will closely coordinate and promote the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to enter a new stage of development.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam is determined to carry out innovation in the field of administrative institutional reform, deploy tasks and solutions in the "Quaternary pillar" with efforts to create breakthroughs in developing science, technology, innovation, streamline the apparatus of the entire political system, remove bottlenecks to open up new development space, consider the private economic sector an important driving force of the economy, actively integrate deeply and effectively into the international community, creating the most favorable conditions for people and businesses at home and abroad.
In that process, Vietnam has persistently pursued the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification, promoting relations with partners to become increasingly in-depth and effective, in which Japan is consistently considered one of the top and long-term important strategic partners, accompanying in the new era.
The General Secretary suggested that the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Union mobilize Japanese enterprises to actively participate in strategic and key infrastructure projects, new energy projects that are symbolic of Vietnam-Japan cooperation, promote pillars of cooperation in science, technology, innovation, training high-quality human resources, deepening local cooperation, cultural exchanges, etc.; pay attention to supporting and creating favorable conditions for the community of more than 600,000 Vietnamese people in Japan.
