On the afternoon of January 22, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the Conference of the Executive Committee of the Francophone Parliamentary Union (APF) in Can Tho City.
At the opening session, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that APF - an organization that brings together French-speaking parliamentarians with the aim of promoting the development of governments - has been established and developed for more than 50 years. Since 1967, APF has had 91 member parliaments, demonstrating remarkable growth in scale and position in the Francophone Community as well as in the international arena.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly always actively participates and makes great contributions to the common activities of APF.
Active participation in the activities of APF and the Francophone Community affirms Vietnam's independent and self-reliant foreign policy for peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations. Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community.
"Vietnam always shares and supports the noble values and goals of the Francophone Community, which are peace, democracy, cultural and linguistic diversity, solidarity, cooperation and development. These are also the goals that the State and People of Vietnam are striving to achieve in the current comprehensive renovation process and have achieved many important achievements in many fields," the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.
The National Assembly Chairman said that the Vietnamese National Assembly, with its legislative, supervisory and decision-making functions on important national issues, is the highest representative of the people. The Vietnamese National Assembly is actively innovating its activities to be more effective and practical, in the spirit of democracy and the rule of law.
Up to now, the Vietnamese National Assembly has built a legal system that is complete in quantity and increasingly improved in quality in all important areas of social life.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates the role of APF, the advisory body of the International Organization of La Francophonie, through initiating and implementing inter-parliamentary cooperation programs, promoting the building of a rule-of-law state and human rights, spreading the use of French and strengthening friendly relations and solidarity among parliamentary institutions. APF actively contributes to the development of parliamentary diplomacy, enhancing the position and voice of parliamentarians in regional and international issues.
According to the National Assembly Chairman, in the context of the complex and unpredictable world situation, especially geopolitical tensions and conflicts, global challenges have not found a common voice to effectively resolve, the APF Executive Committee's political discussion on "the role of the Francophone Community in the face of changes in the world order" is a very topical and important issue.
