On the evening of October 18, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung had a phone call with British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed on the morning of October 19.
At the phone call, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung congratulated Ms. Yvette Cooper on taking on a new, responsible position.
Expressing his delight at the effective cooperation results between the two countries in all fields in recent times, Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to further strengthen the Strategic Partnership with the UK, Vietnam's leading important partner in Europe.
British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper affirmed that the UK attaches great importance to strengthening friendship and cooperation with Vietnam; expressed confidence that with the cooperation of Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung, the two countries' foreign ministries will continue to promote their role as bilateral coordination coordinators; jointly coordinate to promote cooperation in all aspects, towards elevating the bilateral relationship; affirmed that the British Foreign Ministry will continue to cooperate closely and effectively implement high-level delegation and contacts between the two countries as well as between ministries and branches of both sides.
Appreciating the positive developments in the Vietnam - UK Strategic Partnership in recent times, Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung and British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper agreed to promptly review all aspects of cooperation, promote coordination roles, continue to closely follow action plans to implement the strategic partnership framework, promote the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two sides, negotiate and sign new cooperation documents, create a favorable legal framework to further strengthen cooperation in various fields, bring bilateral relations to a new stage of development, meet the expectations of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and the world.
On this occasion, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung respectfully invited British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time. Minister Yvette Cooper expressed his hope to soon have the opportunity to meet directly with Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung to discuss topics of mutual concern.
