Vietnam - Thailand strive to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD, strengthen connectivity in infrastructure, logistics, businesses and localities.

On the afternoon of August 5, at the National Assembly House, after the official welcoming ceremony, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Chairman of the National Assembly cum Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Thailand Sophon Zaram.

The two sides expressed their pleasure at the positive developments of Vietnam-Thailand relations in all fields since the two countries established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; agreed to continue to closely coordinate to effectively implement high-level agreements, maintain delegation exchanges at all levels and bilateral cooperation mechanisms; promote defense-security, economic, trade, and investment cooperation in a balanced and sustainable direction; strive to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD; strengthen connectivity in infrastructure, logistics, businesses and localities; expand cooperation in tourism, education-training, science-technology, innovation and people-to-people exchanges; agreed to continue to coordinate in preserving and promoting cultural values associated with Vietnam-Thailand friendship relations; pay attention to promoting the bridging role of the Vietnamese community in Thailand; strengthen coordination to solve common concerns.

Highly appreciating the cooperative relationship between the legislative bodies of the two countries in the past time, the two National Assembly Chairmen agreed to continue to strengthen high-level delegation exchanges at all levels; effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement between the National Assemblies of the two countries and the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam and the Secretariat of the Thai House of Representatives; expand cooperation and experience sharing between professional committees, the Friendship Parliamentary Group, the Young Parliamentary Group, the Women Parliamentary Group and the advisory bodies of the National Assemblies of the two countries in the fields of law-making, supreme supervision, digital transformation, green growth and climate change response.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen the role of the National Assembly in perfecting the legal framework, supervising the implementation of high-level agreements and the Action Program to implement the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2026-2031; promoting the effective implementation of the "Three Connections" Strategy, contributing to strengthening the connection of supply chains, businesses and localities between the two countries.

Exchanging views on regional and international issues, the two National Assembly Chairmen agreed to continue to closely coordinate at ASEAN, AIPA, IPU and multilateral parliamentary forums; promote ASEAN's central role and promote cooperation in Mekong sub-region mechanisms.
